A favorite Walton- Wooden story is when Bill showed up for the first day of practice with very long hair, and Wooden questioned him about it. Walton replied that it was an important statement for him, and that he had no plans to cut it. Wooden said he admired Bill for his strong convictions, but that his teammates sure were going to miss him that season. When Walton finally realized he was about to be suspended for not adhering to team rules, he went for a haircut immediately. |
