I had bid on that set (about $4,500 less than the final price) because of a number of players who went on to the Frankford Yellow Jackets and the Pottsville Maroons - there was Jack Ernst and Charlie Berry from 1925 Pottsville, (Berry will be a household name if the book "Breaker Boys" is made into a movie,) and Johnny Budd who played for Frankford in their championship year 1926, and Frank Kirkleski who played for Pottsville, Orange, and Brooklyn - and maybe more. Nice set, wrong price! |
