Players who didn't appear in Topps sets

I remember him being announced at a Yankee Old Timers Day years ago before he passed away and saying "Who's He?" as I had never seen a card of him. I found out later that he played from 1959 to 1965 with several teams averaging about 25 appearances a year. He also had 18 saves with the 1962 Yankees in his best season. I always thought that Al Downing was the only African American pitcher on the Yankees.
