Sports Immortals

I have a set of cards that are titled Sports Immortals compiled by Michael Barson. The box states that there are 36 color trading cards picturing the merchandising of all-time sports greats from the 1930's - 50's. I have no idea when they were released, they were published by Kitchen Press. The only information that I have seen (and I am not sure how accurate it is) was that these cards were released and than pulled due to copy right infringement. Does anyone have any additional information and any idea on a value? I have not been able to find them in the 2008 Sports Collectors Digest price list.
