Ebay..What would happen regarding this situation?

you should be OK with Paypal (with the insured being more important than the registered due to the value). If it was sent registered, then the USPS should be able to track every step of it's progress, and confirm all details with Paypal. Just in case, you may want to take any extra funds out of Paypal.
