I wish Ross Barnes, Ned Williamson, and Pete Browning would get the nod. Perhaps through some sort of special 19th century committee. (This has been done in the past). I think that is the way the Hall should judge prewar players: Periodically forming select groups of experts on various eras of the game, perhaps 30-year increments, with a different committee meeting every other year or so. Eventually, even post-war periods should be judged by true baseball historians. Allowing the living HOFers to vote, while politically correct, is just not utilizing the most informed opinions... imho! |
