Yet another sign that baseball is no longer a sport to be enjoyed by the common man. I remember seeing the 1989 HOF game. The Reds didn't bother showing up to play the BoSox, so the PawSox were called in on short notice. For a young Boston fan, this was simply heaven! Kevin Romine was playing catch with fans along the 1B line...just a lot of fun...I would equate it to MLB meeting Disneyland in terms of the happiness the occasion brought to the other youngsters (and even the older fans) in attendance. I'm really sad to hear that news. |
