Ted, Bowa is not even being considered apparently. The short list is Pena, Mattingly and Girardi. I still believe it will be Girardi (if they make the wise choice) and Mattingly if the sentimental choice is made. Today it was reported that Mattingly's agent has told the Yankees his client wants the job and will take it if offered. Big shock there. Of the three apparent in-house finalists, I actually think he'd fare the worst. But due to Joe's leaving I believe the ownership will want to make a big splash with the fans who are angry about it -- and Mattingly seems to be such a splash. |
