Default I never pray, but I did today..... 9/11/2001 NY

Posted By: Jon Canfield

I remember being in college at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY watching the events unfold on TV. We, too, had a central gathering place in our class building and can remember watching the broadcasts and seeing the reporter duck as the second plane hit live on TV. Classes were suspended soon after and like so many others around the world, I spent my day glued to the TV and a state of shock.

6 years later, a lot has changed. I'm now an attorney in mid-town Manhattan and I live in a new apartment building that was constructed in part by government re-vitalization grants (some $6 billion in tax incentives) to try and inspire people to return to downtown Manhattan. My apartment building is on Liberty Street, less than 2 blocks from the World Trade Center site. Not a day goes by that I don't see the site and I can truly say that everytime I pass it, whether on a jog or just walking to the subway - I think about that day.
