Default Tris Speaker E-Cards

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

Most of the early E cards get produced in 1909. And based on what the player was doing in 1908 and before. Most E sets are small, so only the stars appear in the sets.

Speaker was in 7 games in 1907, 31 games in 1908. Hardly enough to warrant getting jammed into a 25 card set. That would average out to the top 1 1/2 stars from each team. Even with the "series of 50" E cards, E101, that averages the top 3 of each team. Speaker doesn't make that.

As for him being in T206... he is, but just with one card. And that is a series 350 card, so think 1910 on it. Speaker didn't even make the top 150 on that.

So was he a star, yes. Should he be in the Hall, yes. Was he a great hitter and center fielder, YES. Should he have been in a 25 card set of the top players in 1909... no.
