Being 61, I can tell you that they went to the bullpen back in Hank's day. Fair point with the Babe, though. One thing to factor in is that today the umps don't call the high strike. As a Ted Williams fan, I wonder how Ted would have hit if he only had to cover the small strike zone (although Ted mused about how the splitter would be tough for him to cope with). By the way, Jim, I was checking out Matty's pitching stats this morning and was blown away. |
