In my ongoing hunt for beaters, I tend to look for cards that have been visibly well-loved by a previous owner, giving them personalities of their own. Creases and well rounded corners are virtually a must. Some sort of meaninful writing (stats, team changes, etc) are a definite plus as well. Extreme trimming is ok, as long is it was accidental and/or obviously done without the intent to deceive. Food stains, paper loss, mold, and other deformities of this sort are all badges of honor in the beater world. |
