Many of our collecting roots (myself included) began with Topps. I would venture to say that very few of our first cards were T206's. I still purchase wax boxes of the base products (minimal insert crap) for football and baseball each year. Opening the packs and putting together sets reminds me of simpler days gone by not to mention that I am still an avid fan of each sport. These will be the first cards that I share with my son and possibly my daughter when they are ready/interested. The specifics escape me, but I know that the industry has undergone some downsizing in the past couple of years, hopefully Topps can cut the fat and be in position to be the industry leader (and put aspartame free gum right next to cards again instead of in little cello packs). |
