I won a $400+ card from him recently and was pretty pleased with how the transaction went. I wouldn't worry too terribly much about such a purchase - or at least no more than the inherent level of worry associated with sending large sums of money to some faceless individual for a piece of cardboard with a picture of a ballplayer that you haven't been able to actually materially inspect.
