I take a needle-nosed pliars and chip off a bit all the way around. You are more likely to get damaged than the card, with flying plastic! I'm sure a fine saw, made to cut plastic and run by electricity would be better, but I never got one.

With PSA andf SGC, I insert a sharp knife between the two halves, on a corner above the printing, and saw in about a quarter of an inch, and turn the knife at a 45 dgree angle, and the two halves come apart. If not, repeat at another corner.

Oh: "whycough", did you quit "cmoking"? I did, 3 1/2 years ago.
