All 1933 Sport King and 1933 Goudey packs contained one card and one piece of gum. The gum itself was slightly smaller than the card. It was scored twice, so that an 8 year-old's tiny fingers could snap it into 3 (roughly) equal size pieces. The flavor was spearmint and in talking with original collectors the flavor lasted for just a few seconds. Back in the 1980's there was a small find of unopened packs of Sport Kings. When those packs were opened it was learned that the gum was placed up against the backs of the cards. Goudey's main business was gum.For anyone to suggest that there is no gum in an 'unopened' pack is ignorant. For anyone to buy such an item without investigation is just plain dumb. |
