Hey I just picked up my first card from the set..haven't recieved it yet but it is a great shot of Rabbit. I'm highly intrested in the set. Does anyone know how many hofers there are in the set ? and has anyone on this board ever completeted this set? If so was it very hard ?

I don't know the exact number, but the set has just about every HOFer who played in 1922, except for a few rookies and near-rookies, like Traynor, Hartnett, Goslin and Vance. The set includes Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Alexander, Collins, Sisler, Speaker, Hornsby, Heilman, Frisch, Stengel, Huggins, McGraw, Wilbert Robinson, Jennings, Baker, Faber, Haines, Pennock, Maranville, Bancroft, Sewell, Schalk, and Bucky Harris. I'm sure I missed a few. Some players are available in multiple poses.

For some reason, there's also no Mack.

its a great set and as noted above, contains just about every HOFer that played in the early 20s. Often the poses in the series 80 and series 120 are different (but not always). In addition, some players have multiple poses within the same series.

Ive got about 15 HOFers from the set now and cant seem to stop.

There is a low grade eddie collins for sale on ebay right now (not by me) if you are looking for more hofers.

As well it should. Like stated, it is chocked full of HOF'ers and a lot have multiple poses. I don't even like Ruth, but the Ruth with bird and "photo montage" are two great cards!

I had 5 Alexanders (2 - Set of 80's and 3 - set of 120's). So, I recently listed all but my highest example of each on eBay - they sold within the first 15-20 minutes of listing with the Buy It Now!

Wow Scott thats pretty fast...The Ruth with bird I think is kinda not so appealing but the Ruth pitching is like a cheaper Sporting News Ruth almost.

they are pictures/cards you don't see often (kinda like the 1976 Kurt Bevacqua Bubble Gum Blowing Champ card). Sure - you see fielding, batting and pitching cards quite a bit in all sets - I just like those for their oddity. Of course, my collection consists of several horizontals, "leaping to catch" poses like the E cards of Magee, Lajoie, Oakes and Cobb; and cards with nice "sunset" backgrounds like Jacklitsch, Chance, Bergen, Wagner Fiedling, T206 Cobb Bat Off Shoulder, etc.

I like the cards you don't see that often I guess - not the Portraits and other frequently encountered cards (though, I do like the E95 Bender Portrait with the cool multi-colored background). That is what makes this Hobby so exciting - these Vintage cards have a little something for everyone, no matter what your tastes are!

Hey Scott i'd be intrested if you have any other e121 hofers in lowgrade or non graded but still lowgrade as I am on a limited budget....send me an email if you do. How often does the Ruth pitching come up and would it cost and arm and a leg in lowgrade(psa 1 or 2).

Ruth pitching is an expensive card. I would guess b/t 500 and 1500 in a grade 1 or 2. I bid on a 3 several months ago that ended up selling for over 2k.

You may run across some blank back cards as well. Koester Bread gave out blank back E121s of the Yankees/Giants to celebrate the World Series match up in 1921, which the Giants won 5 games to 3. They also played each other the next two years as well. I don't have a lot of info on the set, but I always keep my eye out for beat-up Koesters to add to my collection!

They have the same photos as regular E121 cards but most are handcut and are characterized as 1922 W-575 in the Standard Catalog. The last Mastro auction had some for sale:
