I am not suprised at all by the frenzy over Old Judge McPhee cards - if you want a card of every available HOFer then you have to have it, and it is certainly in limited supply. My question is why doesn't this phenomenon translate to other HOFers who have fewer existing cards and are arguably more deserving denizens of Cooperstown's hallowed halls. I'm speaking, of course, of the great Negro League HOFers that are represented in the Cuban and Puerto Rican sets - Hilton Smith, Leon Day, Oscar Charleston, Pop Lloyd, etc. I don't mean this post to be self-serving, I'd really like to hear opinions on this subject. |
