Default Old Judge Anson Uniform

Posted By: Josh Evans

There are no known "real" Cap Anson jerseys in the industry
The one that was in Halper's Sotheby's auction was fake (as were most if not all of the 19th century HOF jerseys in the sale)
It sold for around $90,000 (a real one was then and would now sell for far more) and was later returned by the buyer for a refund

The number of 19th century Hall of Fame jerseys in the hobby can be counted on one hand
The only real one I can recall at the moment is the John Montgomery Ward NY Giants that was originally in the old Wolffer's auction (how ironic) and recently sold in Hunt's
In fact real 19th century major league baseball jerseys are incerdibly rare
Th only ones I can recall are two or three Dummy Hoy's from the 1890's and a Fred Lake Boston which was from 1900 (not even technically 19th century)

I think people have been misguided in this area and the record needs to be set straight
Josh
