Default Investing in baseball cards

Posted By: runscott

Gilbert paid $20 for a beer in 1985?!? This proves to me that beer is a bad investment - you should dispose of it orally as quickly as possible, further evidence to this effect given by Leon.

I have never invested in any vintage sports items, but certainly I hope my stuff will go up in value. When I get a good deal, it's as compared to current market value - in most cases, I've found that my items have NOT gone up appreciably with time, primarily because I generally only keep uniforms, photographs and reference books.

(segway to semi-random thought, ala Julie)

BTW, I just finished reading (most of) Lew Lipsett's "The Old Judge" newsletter compilation from the first four years - what a read! I'm sure the old-time collectors know about all that stuff, but for those of us who are newer to the hobby, I think it's a must-read.
