Default WHO WILL BE AT THE NATIONAL ON FRIDAY?

Posted By: Jay Miller

I made the trek to the National yesterday and a trek it was indeed. The usual drive time from where I live in Connecticut to Atlantic City should be 2 1/2-3 hours. The drive down took 4 1/2 hours. It was fun to finally see Leon, Scott B. and Tom B. I missed the Wentzes as they were away from their table when I came by and I just missed Elliot and Kevin at Scott's table. In terms of pre-1900 cards the show was horrible. TIK had a nice selection of Old Judge and BMW had some really nice slabbed specimens and Billingsley had a group of skinned cards but other than that there was very little. If the show was not so spread out I probably could have "done" the National in under three hours. To my way of thinking this show was only slightly better than the average Ft Washington show. Besides, if you are just making it a day trip and not planning to stay in the area, Atlantic City is not a good place for a National. It is hard to access via auto and, from what I hear, a pain in the ass to fly into.
