it's a VINTAGE card HOF. 1941 is a convient date because you have a 7 year span with almost no cards being released.

Granted, there are a lot of great sets in the modern era, but the difference in production and style is vary marked between 1941 and 1948. Thus, making for a nice place for a cut off.
