Just treat any auction as if your max bid was tantamount to your max offer. If you think you might be tempted to bid more on impulse, simply don't follow along with the auction in live time. Set your snipe, forget it, and deal with other aspects of life. If you get it for less than your full bid amount, good for you! If you have to pay the full amount, so what?
You have reached a stage of acceptance. I commend that, but many of us are still stuck with the anger, part and denial lol the stages of grief, good grief the show must go on.
