Default Beware of the Holder

Something to beware of now that eBay is no longer inclined to field negative reports on their sports cards listings - an obvious reprint inside a questionable PSA holder . . .

Authenticity of the slab and card aside, you have to love AI descriptions:

"The card showcases Cobb as a player for the Detroit Tigers during the 1909-11 season..."

Is that even a legit PSA slab? Bottom of the slab looks suspect with a marking on the left and lack of marking on the right.

Shouldn't the authenticity guarantee fail this if someone were to actually buy it? I would think PSA could tell if it wasn't a legitimate slab of theirs.

Some of the bidders have high enough feedback that they seem to be counting on it because buying it blindly seems stupid with the amount of red flags that thing is throwing up.

Just thought of something - what if PSA says it's fine? Any bets the card will be flipped immediately? Even if the buyer knew it wasn't real, do you think they'd be crappy enough to push it to someone else so they could make a quick buck?

The old rules apply: if the price is too good to be true, it probably is. AND consider the source. In this case, too much negative feedback is a big red flag.

The scumbags who fraudulently sell on eBay are alive and well.

Default Beware of the Holder

I reported the listing. eBay “didn’t find the listing to be in violation of [their] policy.” Sigh.

I get the same thing every time I report a raw listing that's a reprint being marketed straight-faced as authentic. Despite going around their elbows to get to their thumb with the authentication process for items over $250 - the fact that eBay doesn't employ category experts and never has still rears it's head - and often.

I remember someone had a signed check that PSA folded in half and encapsulated, not impossible that a similar PSA employee simply looks up the cert number sees the CERT number is correct and lets it pass

I've now reported this particular listing twice. eBay remains oblivious...

It's been taken down. Good work on being persistent (and correct)!
