Here’s a O’s banner that’s decent in size.

Posted this over in the pennants thread, and it was suggested I also post it over here.
I have been searching for a vintage Dodgers flag (burgee) and finally found one. It is rather large (over 8’ x 5’), and was supposedly flown during the 1967 season at some point. I have been unable to locate 1967 opening day photos or any other ones showing the centerfield flags (or the Dodgers posing with the burgee as they sometimes did before the WS) and was hoping maybe someone on the forum might have one.

I did confirm that the tagging is correct for the period as the manufacturer added an eagle to their logo in the late 1960’s. It certainly wasn’t the best World Series for the Dodgers as they were swept by the Orioles, and Koufax subsequently retired at the end of the season, which may account for the lack of interest in hoisting it up.

For those of us old enough to remember, there was actually a time when winning the league pennant was a big deal. Now, if you don’t win the World Series the season is considered a bust.

Rick, Great looking flag. I too am old enough to remember winning the division and then the AL/NL pennant was a huge deal. Of course it was also nice back in the day to view my team the Orioles be in contention.

The crazy thing is, it’s now almost harder with the multiple rounds of playoffs…but that also makes it more random. As a result, the “best” teams often don’t win the flag. Back in the day, the best team won.

No idea what the story is on this nine footer. It came from an advanced Giants collector in SF. It does have a spot on a wall.

Generic bunting manufactured by Paramount Flag in SF. This one resides in the garage.

My favorite. Batter and pitcher varieties were interspersed with the standard red, white and blue buntings at the first game ever in Candlestick Park. By my calculations there were only 12 pitchers and 12 batters out of a total of 48 buntings.

Believe you are correct. I’m probably too much old school, and really liked the way the game was played back in the day.

I have an exception to your “the best team won” for the ‘69 Mets (especially as an O’s fan. I hated the Miracle Mets!

This broadside is roughly 3' x 2'.

There is a lot going on on it, and the focus at the time was certain the air show. But in the middle of the poster is a mention of a baseball game between a team from Jamestown and a team from Bismarck.

The Bismarck team, today sometimes referred to as the Bismarck Churchills (the owner was Neil Churchill) was an integrated team featuring Negro League greats such as Satchel Paige, Hilton Brown, Quincy Trouppe and others. The print below the mention of the game might be too small to read in the photo, but it mentions that Satchel Paige will be facing Ray Starr. (There was a last-minute change and the Churchills ended up playing against the Twin City Colored Giants.)

The Bismarck team won 21-6. Newspaper reports tell that Paige sat his fielders for the 9th, though the paper reports that this led to two runs scoring, including one homerun, so it wasn't as magical as might be imaged.

Paige did have 4 hits in the game and struck out 11. HOF pitcher Hilton Smith played right field and had 2 hits as well.

Definitely not prewar, but here is an 9' long Nolan Ryan Angels Stadium Banner that I like very much that was at The Big A from circa 1998.

Haven't found much worth buying lately so my itchy trigger finger got the best of me and I impulsively bought this beast. About 5 feet long. Has some age to it...and it was cheap. Figured I'd at least add it to my "Why the F did I buy this pile".

But imagine my surprise and excitment when I was able to photo match the banner to the Juice's record breaking 1968 Heisman Trophy winning season!

Yes...It's great to be a Trojan...But sometimes it's just better to be lucky.

I've been working on this since 2014, and just added the final ingredient.

It started with a Houston Astros Home Plate from the first first home-stand of 2014, against the Yankees. It was Jeter's final season. I picked it up in an MLB auction. There were three future HOF'ers who scored runs on the base, and Nolan Ryan threw out the first pitch, so I decided to get signed balls of each.

• baseball signed by Derek Jeter at the first game of the series, along with a ticket. Bought this on ebay from a guy who went to the game. PSA-authenticated when Al (LOTG) visited Seattle.
• 2001 rookie Ichiro signed baseball for $9.95 in an antique store, also authenticated at Al's event. Dated by having four Mariner signatures and 2001 was the only year all three played together.
• Nolan Ryan signed ball - he threw out the first pitch.
• Today I received a 2013 1st AL year Altuve signed ball, with 2014 inscription.

The base is four tiles on a wood base, with a special order acrylic cover.

The base was authenticated on April 16, so I believe it was switched out before the game, which was George Springer's MLB debut. It that's correct, it was also used in the Angels series, in which Pujols and Trout played. But I'm going to try to forget that.

Very cool.... But those two guys in the middle are getting awfully "cozy" with each other.
