Default New York Illustrated News Cabinet ID

Had a hobby friend send me this for an ID. Pretty sure it's Oscar Gardner but not positive and can't find an exemplar of this specific photo or cabinet anywhere.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the response. I saw that image earlier...but the ears are throwing me. I know...."boxers" and ears is not the same as a non-combat sport like baseball and ears...especially during that era, they just seem like they are way off, and my guy just seems thicker...but that could also be an older version of him, further into his career I guess.

Was hoping somebody ran across another example of this New York Illustrated Cabinet from "The Champions" series, with a more definitive ID. Is this one non-catalogued so far?

Adam...you out there?

Set of 8(?), but Burdick doesn't have a checklist.

Here is a checklist I've manage to scrap together:

WorthPoint has some images.

- Chaley Mitchell, boxer
- John L Sullivan, boxer
- Austin Gibbins
- William Cumming, runner
- Tom Sayers, boxer
- 2 boxers
- George Gary (or Gray), Shot putter
- Billy Murphy, boxer
- Bill Poole, sport?
- Oscar Gardner, boxer
- Carl Abs, wrestler
- wrestling scene (Whisler vs Berria(?))
- Brooklyn Jimmy Carroll, boxer

Any others?

Did you see an Oscar Gardner reference elsewhere, or was it based on this cabinet?

Here you go. Good 'ol Ogden's. Slightly different angle from the same sitting.

Ah, perfect. Thanks Zack.

I didn't think any of the Ogden's General Interest Boxers were supposed to be exceedingly difficult to find, but that one doesn't seem to come up in any of the internet searches I attempted. Found it in checklists, but no images of that card.

Would have been a no-brainer if I had found it earlier.

Thanks again!
