The stuff on ebay being sold as variations is funny. Any time I read the word airbrushed I LOL. Plus the prices are outrageous most of the time. I admit I sometimes pay a nice premium for the print offset cards but 20X normal price is way out of my ballpark.

They made 2000 of these. 1950 were numbered (look at the edge of the medal) and 50 unnumbered. They also made 2 small versions a bronze one and a Gold plated one (both much harder to find than the large one). Nice pickup.

Phil - very nice Rose rookie! What ever happened to the one your wife bought for you a year or two ago?

Does she know you substituted it out for a better one? Be careful, because she just might think that you'll consider trading her in too for a "better" model!!

What were "Baseball Buttons"? Is there a checklist? I could not find them in the Standard Catalog.

Default 1956 Pins

In the SCD Standard Catalog they are referred to as Topps 1956 Pins. Not sure why, except they really function more as a pin than a button. Neat set. Two of them are scarce, as I recall Lopez and Sauer, but that may not be right.

I've had these forever. Always knew they were Topps but never saw the box before. Great looking box, Dave, and beautiful pins, Al.

Hey Chris, the pic didn't show up? Added a new one.

I have around 13 oddball Mantles I would still like to get (Holiday Inn, Venezuelans, JD McCarthy postcards) before finishing up the set. This was just the last of the Topps cards I needed.

Got the big one down on my 1957 set. That leaves just three more to go (Kouax, B. Robinson and Yankees Power Hitters)

Whether it's 2013 or 2025, I'm happy to add these two to my collection. A couple of great-looking 4's in my opinion.
