I’m getting closer on 2 sets

1964 topps 2nd set only needing 2 more…rose and Clemente

1968 topps only needing 2 more…mantle and mantle

I also started 72 topps and another 66 topps (I’m a crazy guy)

1966 topps 2nd set only needing about 40 cards 1-522 and 35 highs

1972 topps needing 28 more

***I love the chase more than anything else!!!***

I'm rolling into the Natty with a giant list of cards needed to finish sets. I hope to knock off a bunch of them.

Earlier this month I finished my 1971 Topps Baseball Coin set. Now, since I'm reliving my collecting childhood days 1970-1975, I've started collecting Topps Football from 1970 and 1971 in lesser condition. When those are done, I'd like to do a 1-263 run of the 1972 Football. One day, I'll work on the basketball sets for 1970, 71, and 72.

Happy collecting!

I am down to 29 cards in my 1952 Topps set. I am focusing on centering and new certifications. I put a complete set together 8 years ago with an average grade of 6.5. This new set will average out at about 5.5 and will far surpass my old set. Those PSA grading standards are tough these days.

John, it is crazy. I need three high numbers and 26 low numbers. Most of the low numbers are from 80-270.

That is crazy...good luck as you finish, outstanding accomplishment! I've toyed with the idea for years and never had the nerves to do it.

Default 1964 Topps Baseball

Got the last card for my 1964 Topps Baseball set. Not a real hard set to finish although the last card took a month to arrive after purchasing it. Now onto the 1965 set which I'll hopefully finish soon.

My currently goal is plowing through the 1939 Play Ball set
I tend to do things orderly, as in nine pocket sheet by nine pocket. I complete one page, then move on to the next. I'm now seven pages complete except for the DiMaggio towards the 13 pages needed for the low numbers. Luckily there are only a couple HOFers in my way, Paul Warner, Chuck Klein and Earl Averill. I may need to hold off on the Ted Williams rookie for a bit, but the rest of the set i anticipate having done before Christmas

Thanks to a few big ticket purchases before the National and several pickups in Chicago I've knocked out a few sets and gotten close on a few more

1941 Play Ball is complete in very much a collector grade set. Picked up the last five at the National. Fittingly Lefty Gomez was the last card acquired.

1951 Bowman FB - picked up two cards at the National and the set will be complete when Norm Van Brocklin arrives in a few days from eBay purchase.

1954 Dan Dee is complete - again a low condition set. Picked up Mantle at my National Preview sale by my LCS. That put getting Hodges and Snider at the top of my National priority list.

1954 Red Heart - At 32/33. Also acquired this Mantle at my LCS and found 5 of the last 6 at the National. Down to Enos Slaughter

1958 Hires - At 62/66. Need Ashburn, Mays, Thomas and Kline. Current set is mix of with and without tabs. Looking to eventually upgrade 20 cards to versions with tabs.

1961 Post BB - 199/200. Need 73 Estrada - a popular last one to find.

1962 Post FB - 198/200. Need 93 Baker and 139 Green

1969 Milton Bradley -199/200 - Need Clementa

1976 Hostess - completed the set of 50 full panels with Darwin, Peterson and Carew via eBay.

1978 Hostess - completed the set of 50 full panels with Bostock, Carter and Blomberg.

Among those I've made no progress on in the last few months:

1979 Hostess - still need one panel that will complete the five year run of Hostess panels. Murphy, Matlack and Bochte. I wonder what low selling Hostess product that panel was on.

1951 Topps Blue Back - 48/52

1949 Bowman - 232/240. Most of what is left are HOFs, but other than Ashburn I have the big rookie cards.

Not sure I will make much progress over the next few months. The bank account need to recover

Default 1964 Topps Set Progress

Picked up a lot great players at the National but didn't really add as many as cards as I thought I would.

Got Mays, Koufax, Killebrew, Banks, Lou Brock, Clemente and an autographed Johnny Podres card that surprised me when I found it. Also got the Richie Allen Phillies Rookie Stars card as well.

I'm now at 10% on this set that I basically started back in April of this year. Hoping to get to 25% or better by the end of the year.

I'm working on the 64 set as well. Wanted to get a Mantle or Rose at the National but those prices were all over the place (saw a Raw Mantle with an asking price of $900!!!) so I decided to go after others in the set.

Finished off my 1965 Topps Baseball set today with a common coming in the mail. Now onto the 1966 Topps set. About 20 short of the set with most being those hard to find high number cards.

Congrats! I just completed 1965 a few months back, but I seem to be going in the opposite direction - I'm moving on to '64. I completed '66 2 years ago - those high numbers can be shockingly pricey. I have an extra Garry Roggenburk that's yours if you need him - send me a PM if you'd like it.

Just completed 1952 Topps!

1915 Cracker Jack 176/176, looking for a few upgrades
1916 D381 Fleischmann/Ferguson 103/104 confirmed (need Tragesser) 105 checklisted players (Jennings)

M101-6 Felix Mendelsohn have 48 different out of??
1952 Topps 407/407. Will gradually look for upgrades on some and more autographed ones, have close to 100 signed.

working on 1954 Topps with son, think aprox 96/250

Thinking of tackling 1951 Bowman next...

Have 10 out of at least 12 different 1908 Jack Johnson Birmingham Smallware Postcards, would love to find the other 2 and know if it ends at #12? Super rare

Default 56 Topps

I'm 58 cards away from finishing '56 Topps in raw, low grade. I posted about this on one of the BST forums too, but if anyone out there has low-grade 56T that you'd be willing to trade or sell, then I'd love to swing a deal.

I'm plowing through a 1939 Play Ball set. I'm down to just six of the low numbers before I start on the high numbers. Of course two that I need are DiMaggio and T. Williams.
It's been interesting how easy it is to find the stars, but commons are often really tough to find, and for no real apparent reason. Why am I having trouble finding a Goody Rosen or Fred Sington at a price that isn't insane?

Question for those of you that have multiples of sets from the same year - do you cull the best cards out and put those in one set and let the other have the leftovers (a high grade set and a lower grade set) or do you just let the cards fall where they may?

I've got two or three sets from some years in the 1970s and thought about putting the nicer cards together in one set, but it just seems like a long, boring night(s) to wade through thousands of cards, comparing each one.

Same. However, for most sets I keep a master spreadsheet to keep track of what I have and what I upgraded.

Have you tried PastPros for trying to get that elusive autograph. If you contact them and let them know you are interested in them, they have a great network in trying to get ahold of folks in the Caribbean to track them down. Just a thought!!

I am roughly 70% complete for my 1966 O-pee-chee baseball set. Extremely tough as I am trying to achieve the set in Ex/Mt or higher. Thankfully it is only 196 cards but still has the stars.....Mantle, Mays, Palmer RC, etc.

I am down to 10 cards to complete my mid grade 1952 Topps set. All the cards are recently graded examples after PSA changed their grading standards. Is it me or is a 4 the go to grade from PSA on vintage cards these days?
