Default Exemplar Wanted of 1933 Phillies Charles Butler Auto

So, I am down to one autograph to complete my 1933 to present MLB autograph collection, 1933 Charlie Butler Phillies.

However, I have never seen a Charlie Butler autograph on anything, does anyone have an example of one. Also, if anyone has one, they would like to sell, let me know, will pay generously.

Thanks,

Hey Gio…
His wiki page says he died in Brunswick, GA.
Maybe do some detective work and contact some of the city office there (?)
See if he was married, maybe you could get his marriage license.
See if he bought property….maybe you could get his signature on a real estate or mortgage document. Check with some of the older banks there…maybe a signature card from a savings or checking account or a cancelled check. There has to be something he signed at some point that you could acquire, you’d probably have to come up with a bribe somehow.
Let us know how you make out.

Charles Thomas Butler did not purchase any land in Glyn County, GA. This county is where Brunswick and St. Simons Island are located. A Charles Butler with no middle initial did purchase or sell 14.57 acres on April 4, 1931 and another 71.93 acres on September 27, 1932 in Bryan County, GA. Depending on where in the county, it is about 50 - 70 miles from Brunswick. That Charles Butler did execute a power of attorney July 14, 1931 (Book 2S Page 162). I found the information using the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority - https://www.gsccca.org/search/. I set up a limited account, which is free, but you cannot view documents. They have other account types for which you pay. I believe it was $5 for single use with viewing and $14.95 for regular viewing. I am not sure about viewing death certificates as they only set out rules for receiving a copy.

Who is eligible to receive a death certificate?*
Parents
Guardian
Legal spouse
Next of kin
Legal representative of the person listed on the death certificate (lawyer or trustee).
The court of competent jurisdiction upon its written court order or subpoena, or any government agency, state or federal, provided that such certificate shall be needed for official purposes.
Financial institutions and insurance companies.**
* Must provide proof of relationship (such as a birth certificate).

** Financial institutions and insurance companies requesting copies of death certificates are required by Georgia law to provide written justification for their requests.

Any person other than immediate family requesting a death certificate must have a direct and tangible interest for the certificate and must be able to demonstrate a valid reason for their request in accordance with Georgia law 31-10-26(a)(1).

It all depends on the jurisdiction. It can be very expensive and time consuming to scan documents. It also depends on the amount of records they have. Glynn County allows you to view land records back to 1871. The District of Columbia you can view back to 1921. In Massachusetts most of the counties can only be viewed back to the 1950's or less. That is due to the large number of record books generated in a county with hundreds, if not thousands of transactions per day. Many of them now do live scanning or scanning within a few days. Most offices are not set up to retroactively scan older records. Usually you have to take apart the book, scan both recto and verso sides of a page in order then rebind the book for storage. After scanning you then need to enter all of the information for each document into a database. D.C. hired an outside company. Many Mass. counties did it in house.

Great that you found something. Alachua County, where Gainesville is the county seat, only has online records going back to 1971.

Whew!!
Very cool, Gio!
Lot of detective work went into that, no doubt!
Did you pick that card up or did you only get a scan?

only a scan, i would love to find it, but i was able to locate his great grandson and sent him a message on Facebook, let's see if he responds, also found out a baseball field is named after him in Georgia, so he was heavily involved in youth baseball. so my search to add him to my collection continues but at least i have an idea what im looking for, thanks for the help
