Stanford Pottery would paint the grey doll after molding, typically the flesh tone (arms, hands, face) and the bat would get painted. The doll would then be dipped in glaze and fired, turning white except where the underglaze paint had been applied. Then they would trim the piece with overglaze paints, which were generally red and black paints (and gold for the tooth...lol). The interesting thing about the Stanford figure I show is that it is not chalkware, it is an actual fired ceramic.

Well, we just released Part 2 of the "Baseball Banks" series. This episode features some Stanford Pottery as well as rarely seen Gibbs Conner examples. We also show some of those great "Bat Banks" you may have had as a kid.
Here's a link to the latest episode... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4WQxL_7XeE Hope you all enjoy, and thanks for watching! Mark

Another great episode! I almost spit out my coffee when you said something to the effect of “sometimes I have to take any condition I can get.”
