I could be missing something, but color variations like you are describing in almost all postwar vintage sets are extremely common. 1956 Topps for example, I will often see a card that I think has fine color - until I see one that is different / better to the point where it makes the first card look bad by comparison. 1957 Topps often come with a version that is darker (black / brown coloring) and one that is lighter (more green / blue) of the same player. None of these are officially recognized as "variations" usually by the hobby.

'62 Green Tints as a variation are off the beaten path, because they involve cards that came from a different printer, some entirely different photos, and in cases where the photo is the same the cropping is often slightly different. I'm not aware of any '71 Topps cards that follow variation craziness quite like that - and would just assume it has to do with where in the print run the inks were refilled.
