Default Bill Belichick

I'm trying to understand what all the fuss is about. He's got a girlfriend who is young enough to be his granddaughter, but that's neither a crime, nor frankly frankly that unusual when it comes to older men of great fame, wealth, or both. I think people are just making fun of Belichick because he's not the guy you'd expect to be dating a 24-year old, and all that implies. He and Andy Reid would be the guys you'd probably least expect to go down that path.

I think it’s less about her age, and more of the fact he spent nearly 50 years cultivating a brand of “zero distractions - do you job and win football games.” And now his life is slowly turning into a TLC reality show. The fact the root of all of that is a 24 year old girlfriend, just makes it the easiest talking head fodder available.

The minute she thinks she has enough of his money secured to be set for life she will be out the door, Belichick knows this and will keep her around as long as he can. Apparently it is worth it to him to have the company of a beautiful woman in her early twenties while he is an average looking guy at best in his early seventies.

Whether right or wrong a 50 year age gap would be interesting and discussed whether you’re a famous coach or some random guy from a small town. Difference in scale of course given his fame but he’s not being treated differently than anyone else in that regard.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that she was a newborn when he was celebrating his first Super Bowl victory with the Patriots, shortly before turning 50. It's almost like she was just waiting in incubation for his NFL retirement.

I think if she were lower key and quiet it would be much less of a story.

It's really sad to watch people in sports go downhill with age.

In his prime, Bill would never have settled for third.

The age difference is ridiculous. If he wasn’t who he is, she wouldn’t be with him. She doesn’t see him, she sees opportunity. During an interview, Belichick was asked “How did you both meet?” Belichick looked over at her and she said, “We aren’t talking about that.”

At this stage of his life, do you think Belichick should be harbouring schoolgirl delusions of true love? I can't see any of that romantic silliness (e.g. "I want someone to love me for the real me! I'm not just the famous multi-millionaire with all those Super Bowl rings.") should matter to him.

Well, it does answer the question, once and for all, about who is Bill's all-time favorite tight end...

I think she looks kind of trampy and very opportunistic. Face it: if Bill worked the counter at a 7-11 making slurpees, she wouldn't give him a look.

Hey, I've hated the Patriots back to the days of the old AFL but commenting on coaches/players relationships with women is something I leave to the Hollywood scandal sheets.

Do you think he cares? Well neither do I. And any man who does is silly.

Young ladies have two options:

First option - wake up 5am ... spend over two hours getting ready ... goes to work ... accident on the road ... still arrives late ... gets crapped on by her miserable boss ... deals with miserable clients ... deals with miserable co-workers who want her fired cause' they're probably jealous of her ... doesn't even have enough time to eat her lunch ... comes home in the evening with a splitting headache ... does this five - six days a week, and after she pays all her bills, she hardly has any $$$ leftover for herself to enjoy ... She does this for ten years and she will end up looking like shit ... it will suck the life outta' her ... and after twenty years, she will end up getting a disease from all that stress ...

Second option - finds an older rich guy ... puts up with him for a few years ... maybe has a baby ?? Walks away set for life ...

I seriously can't blame women for choosing the second option ...

I think about who I was at 24 years old and what has transpired in my life in the 3 and half decades since. And I consider the 20-somethings I work with and encounter in my daily wandering. I just don't get it. It seems well nigh impossible to have a meaningful relationship with someone young enough to be your child (or grandchild in Bill's case) The disparity in life experiences is just too great.

People are free to form any relationship they want within the bounds of moral and/or legal constraints. It's not any of my business, but this feels more like a business transaction than anything else. For both parties. Bill may not think that it is, but I cannot help but think of the old saw that "there is no fool like an old fool."

I don't think people must be with others the same age to be happy. And if Bill is happy, then I don't think he is a fool.

I’m truly “concerned” about people who are “concerned” about Bill Belichick.

The guy has wrangled 1000’s of giant and volatile men into cohesive NFL units for most of his adult life.

I think he’ll be fine.

Is it weird? Yes! Are both of these people somewhat unlikable? Yes! Do I care beyond that? No!

I'm a member of a makerspace, and worked in bicycle shops for almost 20 years. Plus volunteering at a local earn a bike program.

I have a few friends - not romantic or anything, just good friends- who are young enough to be my kids. To me friends are darn near family, so not just people I know and tolerate.
I've learned a lot from them, and hope I've taught them a few things. Mostly in regards to technology, and knowledge of older ways of getting things done.

Can't say about a more involved relationship, but would think it could work for the right two people.

Bill is perhaps wise enough to realize that he can't take it with him so he might as well have a good time while he's still alive and kicking. And I take it he still has some kick left which is perhaps prompting a certain amount of jealousy from some quarters.

Yes, especially the guy known for coaching an NFL team I've despised for sixty years. The name "Patriots" was bad(boring!) enough by itself but I really hate any team named after a geographic region larger than a city.

Be weirder yet if he entered into a new relationship at this stage in his life with a woman his age. What tempted you about this old hen, Bill? Her "mind"? Read a book. They're more easily put aside and don't intrude on the rest of your life.
