Default Photos of MLB Players in Military Game Jerseys

I really didn't think there were a lot of photos from WWII, or any other war, depicting players and their Military Team Jerseys. I stumbled across a couple that I thought were pretty unique and I'm curious if there are others like this out there in the wild. There has to be, and if so, please show them.

This photo pictures Johnny Rizzo (who played from 1938-42) and Al Benton (who played from 1934-52) sporting their U.S. Navy baseball uniforms. I don't know where the photo was taken, but it's stamped that it was sold from the Ships Service Department, Norman, Oklahoma.

This would be a great time to show our MLB players in uniform as the 50th Anniversary of the fall of Saigon is upon us.

Here's the 1945 U.S. Navy team from the Aiea Barracks, which featured an impressive number of former and future big league stars, including Hall of Famers Billy Herman, Bill Dickey and Bob Lemon, along with pitcher and future manager Fred Hutchinson. Also pictured here is "Clown Price of Baseball," Max Patkin, who pitched for team, which played other service teams in Hawaii during World War II.

Nice photo. Natty togs. However doesn't look a bit like Musial to me.

For those of you that are wondering "Aiea? How the heck do you pronounce that?" It's I-A-uh, emphasis on the second syllable. Rolls right off the tongue.

ETA: Oops. I didn't see the second photo, which is Musial. I'm old, I do stupid stuff. The guy in the photo with Williams looks familiar but no can reconotice him.

Great photos!

You should check out the Chevrons and Diamonds website. It's the largest database for military baseball photos and memorabilia. He makes the collection available for reference. I have donated a large part of my own military scorecards to the collection where they can be used for future research. The proprietor, Shawn, is a member here so I'm sure he'll chime in soon.
