It will be interesting to see where it lands.

Personally, I think $5 million is an optimistic estimate, but I guess we'll see eventually.

Default Anybody see the Wagner on Facebook?

A PSA 2 offered for 1.5mm in a PSA group. The cert looks legit and the seller is requiring lawyers on both sides. I'm not in the group, but a buddy sent the screenshot. I will attempt to attach.

Obviously a very generous 2. Price seems too good to be true? Anybody know the seller? Is there any way this is legit?

On a side note, anybody know if Paypal would let me send 1.5MM?

Looks like you would have to break it up into a lot of smaller transactions:

Regarding the PSA 2 on Facebook, the last reported sale of this card was in 2019 for $1,353,625 by Mile High. Given the market since then, seems like $1.5M is a good deal if legit.

As for the Wagner consigned to Goldin, it hasn't been reported sold since 2010.

Someone posted "Sold" underneath it. So maybe? I think I'm getting info 3rd hand - so take it with a grain of salt.

Seems ridiculous to offer that via Facebook. Just silly. Leaving lots of money on the table by not going through the auction house of your choice, letting them battle it out to give you the best deal. Either a really bad scam or a ridiculous joke. The very dark coloring, not to mention the name and date written on a piece of the quicker picker upper does make me feel that this could be legit, however.

I always take my Wagz into the bathroom, too.

The scan does look like the one in the pic, so maybe it is a real sale. Not sure how this card got a 2 though, especially with that one corner.

If the Facebook card has no creases, then it certainly would merit a 2. The last 2 sold for 7.5 million, so I don't see how this could be a real sale. The last 1 sold for 3.1 million 3 years ago. I would expect it to bring 4+ and 5+ is good possibility.

It definitely doesn't look like normal 2 standards to me. If I was going to spend that kind of money on a card labeled with that grade, I would seriously question the accuracy of the grade and the company behind it.

Thanks for the comparison. The left looks like a fake with the card just laying against the insert.

I see you are new here, Robert.
You can say what you want to but, did you see this near the top of every page in bold letters?

"If you write anything concerning a person or company your full name needs to be in your post or obtainable from it."

Please always follow that rule. You can put your name out here, scrambled to not allow searches to find it, or edit your post (and the quoted words will be edited too)

The most obvious difference to me is the top, left corner. The card on the left shows the black border line complete at the corner while the picture on the right has a lot of the black line missing there. I'm sure there are other differences, but that one stands out to me the most.

Thanks for the update - that's the problem with not being in the group - you can't look for those red flags. A closer inspection of the card relative to the actual PSA slabbed card also showed it wasn't the same card - fooled me with a cursory glance though.

Did the seller really think they would get away with something of this scale - especially when they are calling for lawyers to get involved. Just a joke/spam post?

First red flag is "why are you posting a pic of a T206 Wagner taken in a bathroom?"

Reminds me of the guy on here who was selling a Wagner and posted a pic of it photoshopped in his hands from his bedroom. Maybe another member can post that famous shot.

Mile High’s restored T206 Wagner went for $1.98MM last night, which is only $12k above its last sale. With that in mind, how does the unaltered Wags do in Goldin?

So the consignor probably lost money, once you factor in selling costs, as my guess is that Mile High is taking more than 0.6% on the sale. For that matter, it was probably just one bid increment below an outright decline in the previous selling price.

From what I’ve heard around here, if it had gone for one bid increment less, this would have been the first time in history that a Wagner had re-traded for less than its previous selling price.

I am guessing not. Logic would dictate 0%, and likely a chunk of the BP to the seller as well. If I had to guess, the seller netted closer to $200K over what the card sold for the last time.

Not following your math, the $1.98m included the BP, so even with no seller fee and 15% of the BP back to seller was still below the last sale (purchase) price.

I was watching that one, and very very close to putting in a bid. But alas, the eye appeal for me was just too much to overcome. But it’s a great card being signed and decently centered. Congrats to whomever got it and for that price is probably over the moon, I think it was an awesome buy.

The one on the left looks fake as all get out, even if it isn't. Just like the fakes that show up on this forum from time to time.
