Default T206 Honus Wagner, Piedmont back - how to verify?

My aunt has this card that she bought at an auction. It was a drug seizure auction around 1994. It contained sports memorabilia and other things. Attached are pictures. How would I go about verifying if this is the real thing? Are there any obvious signs that it's fake?

That's a poor fake. Among other things, the colors are way off on the text (front caption and back).

The only thing real in the scans are the stray hairs.

Shouldn't it have a border around the photo?

do you know where i could go for more info on this? i emailed someone else on this and asked about obvious fakery and they didn't indicate any based off the pictures.

im leaning toward it being a fake too, some things seem off to me, but there's, not that i can find, any good resource on *how* tell it's a fake and what to look for. the only thing certain i've seen really is using a microscopic to check out the ink?

Got anything else from the drug dealer’s collection? Maybe there’s an actual winner in there somewhere.

I don't think you understand. This would be akin to looking at an elephant and saying it's a car.

To be clear, it is a really, really bad looking fake, 100%, no doubt.

Hope this clears it up for you. Google it and find a real one and compare it. Then you will see for yourself.

Of course, drug dealers are a logical and impeccable source for impossible to find and astronomically valuable cardboard. So I’m shocked that this isn’t legit.

I wonder what the drug buyer received from the drug dealer in exchange for a supposed REAL Wagner. Maybe the dealer gave him $50,000 in 'store credit'.

I wonder about how much the drug dealers played with that Wagner, to get it in such rough condition.

Additionally, the print at the bottom should be brown, not black.

When you put yourself out there as a big FB card dealer, expect the cons to come in full force.

Don’t be, the more information that gets shared the more knowledgeable we become. I found the thread interesting.

I’m a newbie here and I have already learned a lot from the veterans.

t206museum.com - which i ended up googling after receiving their email and apparently they aren't the best source of information.
