My humble Brooks.

1957 was the third set my Dad and I managed to complete in my teens. Even then, this creased Brooks was the most expensive card in the build, we got Mantle for like $30 but Brooks was around $50 for even a bad one with a lot of patience. I remember being surprised just how popular this one was, even from the tougher series. Glad we put this set together back then

met up with a longtime collector friend last evening who is getting on in years and is slowly selling off his collection, however he isn't computer savvy and asked for my help...

This Brooks VHS tape is from 1988 however it's a 30 minute piece he did with George Plimpton in the late 1970's...I did test it this morning and it plays fine although I think it's more collectible as a display piece...

was going through some items yesterday and I ran across this unique 1980 home schedule "fan" from the Charlotte O's (also have one from 1981 signed by a handful of players)...

1980 was Cal's breakout season as he hit 25 homers, knocked in 78 runs while hitting .276

couldn't remember if I had posted it before but in case I hadn't:

I'm sure a good # of you had heard about the passing of Art Schallock, who passed away yesterday at the age of 100 (and who was the oldest living MLB player)...

Art was one of 23 pitchers the Orioles used in 1955 as he appeared in 30 games with a 3-5 record.......

Here is something I got a while ago and think it's super cool. An original photo stamped Aug 1961, of a boy named Jimmy Brown. He has a few fans of 1961 topps all star high numbers and MVPs. Brooks is front and center of his right hand. Hank Sauer and Willie mays show well in his left hand. You don't really see period photos of cards themselves (aside from a few famous ones showing packs on shelves).

The title the newspaper seemed to have given this photo is "Hobby card collection".

Hope you all enjoy.

Default Orioles Advertisement Signs

A couple advertisement cardboard signs. Guessing the Catch the Magic Orioles Express is from 1984. It references the AL Champions and Memorial Memorial Stadium. The second one is from 1984 (February 12, 1984 was a Sunday).

Charlie,

I think the Orioles Magic Express sign may be from 1980.

Wondering if this is the free sticker that the sign is referencing?

Not really vintage but always loved this card. The panel is unique.

Former Oriole outfielder Carl Warwick passed away last week at the age of 88.
Carl was purchased from the St. Louis Cardinals in July of 1965 and appeared in only nine games that season before being dealt to the Cubs during ST in '66:

Default Brooks Robinson Gorsuch House

For those that enjoy collecting items from Brooksie’s Gorsuch House Restaurant. A few recent adds:

Pack of Sugar
Menue - on the inside it has a photo of Brooks mentioning him as the Host
Matchbook

Very cool items! I haven’t seen these examples from the restaurant in the past.

I just saw where Chito Martinez, former Orioles outfielder, passed away today at age 59.
He played for the Orioles from 1991-1993, appearing in 158 games.

Here's a couple of his team issued postcards from 1991-1992 and a team issued 8x10 photo.
