Hank - the players are wearing "National" across their chests, and set a strong tone for Washington baseball for the next 80 years by finishing in last place for the second half of the season to end up 3rd to last in the league.
This came up at auction through Memory Lane, and having read through this Washington DC baseball thread multiple times, I immediately recognized it. This was the original picture that was reprinted in The Washington Sunday Star on October 5th, 1924 (attached below) which user RUKen posted in 2022. His post included the unintended challenge that he was "pretty certain that the original photograph is no longer in existence" so I knew I had to jump on it. Now I just need to find a copy of the 1924 Sunday Star to frame with it!
Sorry to have missed you at the vintage show, I hope you can make it next year. You've been an incredible voice for Washington collectors since Tom Holster gave you a shout out in the Senators checklist 30 years ago!
