I got three odds and ends cards for the little random stack/trading pile.

This I’ve never owned a E103, damn they have some thin paper stock!

I keep telling myself I need to focus on the last back I need for the backs line and last two HOFer cards I need for the T206 sets, but super fun to add a couple random cards to keep the juices flowing.

Happy Saturday,
Bob

I always liked the look of that E121 Walter Johnson. I think it is a nice snap shot of the follow through on his pitching motion (looks like a warm-up toss). Congrats.

You never know, sometimes random stack cards become cards from sets you are focusing on. Nice cards, and I like the E103, and especially like the E95 Willis. I hear Willis has 24 potential playmates living on the same block of Philadelphia Caramel Blvd.

Brian,
Very true! I’m not really a set guy, but E95 will probably be the one that I do commit to building down the road. There are some great looking cards in the set and my aversion to buying commons (except Chase and Merkle) won’t be too bad since it’s only a 25 card set!

Thanks, as always,
Bob

It is indeed an outstanding set, and besides the nine other Hall of Fame players included, there are cards of Merkle and Eddie Cicotte, some players that had outstanding careers (Larry Doyle, Tommy Leach, Ed Reulbach), and even an eventual manager of the Red Sox, Bill Carrigan, who was the first manager of, and won two World Series in 1915 and 1916, with budding superstar Babe Ruth on the mound. So in my mind only 9 of the 25 are schlubs or semi-schlubs that you will need to pick up.

Brian

I just posted a video on my YouTube channel showing some of my recent pickups:

*Warning: Video is long but the Pre-War pickups are at the beginning**

Pickups:
-Large group of 1932 Zeenut cards (mostly without the coupons) but a few with including a pair of cards I need for my personal collection (I only need 4 cards for that set now: Collard, Mailho, Salvo, Walsh-Oakland)

-1940-1941 Wheaties "stamps" Large Lot

Other Pickups featured in the video but not pre-war:
-1961 Post Cereal Baseball Complete Set (200)
-Large Autographed card lot of 600+
-Fun group of rare vintage 1950's-1970's wrappers

Incredible Ruth postcard addition Jeff! Spectacular piece!

I started the year off trading for what may very well be my best addition to the collection!

So excited to upgrade this rare Cobb from my SGC 1.5 to this much nicer copy! Like Jeff I let go of several cards to get this one!

I posted these guys in the ML thread, but got them in hand today! Happy to repost in the official pickup post!

Ty Cobb Red Port Piedmont 42 back
Johnny Evers CHI Piedmont 42 back

I really like the 42’s and happy they don’t draw a ton of attention from some of the other back collectors.

Happy hunting,
Bob
