Default Detroit Pennant

Thank you for the feedback! It confirms what I thought, but I figured I would ask!

Displaying my favorites from my very modest collection of football pennants. Trench really produced some quality in the 50s and 60s. The fully colorized 49ers is the most attractive pennant I’ve ever seen, in any sport. The “Go Get ‘Em Rams” might be top 5.

What pennant of yours is your favorite, putting value aside, strictly in terms of “eye appeal”?

Love the Packers, and the Texans is great. What's the year on these?

Nice, Greg. I like the miner panning the football too. So many variations in material and graphics colors.

AMAZING! The green and blue felt versions especially.

Hank, I think the Packers is mid-late 50s and the Texans is 1961 or 62. There’s a white spine and red spine version. I’m not a football pennant expert but I think there might be a red felt version of this with the AFL trademark? Not positive …

Yes there is. But the graphics are not multi-colored on that rare red felt version.

Interesting … the only other obvious Trench of which I knew was the red Cotton Bowl version (no AFL mark). Must be incredibly rare.

Not really felt...but 1960s "felt".

Yeah "felt" was a bit of a stretch. Material looks very similar to the bizarre "1938" Cubs pennant we discussed a page back or so.

Not rare but I love the color in these. The fonts are all the same, suggesting the same maker....which is who?

I could use an upgrade on the last one. Bocca has one where the water is actually blue. I've been looking for it. This one has a satin-like spine.

Some great pennants on the thread this week. Love the Texans penannts and the 49er's disply.

I've had a couple of new arrivals this week. The Giants is from the grommet series. Except for some fading to the green color, it's in great shape. It could do with a gentle clean but I'm not willing to risk it.

The Cardinals is a mini pennant but I've not seen it before except in Mike Egner's book.

You guys are really bringing it with the pennants. I can't imagine where you're finding all these rarities, but as a pennant guy it's fun to watch.

As you wish.... I think Greg has one of these too, just maybe not on display. It is much tougher to find that the non-blue. Not sure if they were all blue and most faded, or if some were just more blue to begin with.

The one I have displayed in the pic is my “blue” version, though not as blue as yours. And I have a couple that have no hint of blue. So I guess that suggests that maybe they were all made the same way but the color fades easily.

Had this discussion with another board member regarding the color of the grass in Trench stadium pennants. Have seen nearly mint condition pennants with vivid paint colors … except for yellow grass on the playing field. Yet there are some that are deep green. For some reason you see green grass more with White Sox and Cardinals pennants. Were they all made green and it just faded quickly? Who knows …

Love that Titans pennant. I had a friend when I was a kid who said the he played for them. Never found much online about him. He did have tons of pics of when he was on the practice squad for the Giants in the 50's though.

Nice grommet pennant, Gary. I think that is now the third copy I've seen. Mine, yours, and there was a more yellow colored one auctioned off earlier this year.

This is an awesome pennant. I collect Mpls Millers stuff and have never seen a more pennant earlier than the 40’s in over 40 years of collecting. I think I remember seeing that pennant years ago. I’m glad it made in to a great collection.

Auction house selling a pennant it describes as “quite clean overall”.

At least we now know Emmett Kelly’s real name is Ricky

It's hard to to choose just one...but I've always been partial to simple, bright graphics like this 1960 ASG pennant
