Dan Brothers final At Bat 1904
Dan Brothers began his Hall of Fame Career in 1879. The earliest scorecard I have with him playing is 1881. So when I looked at this 1904 NY Giants scorecard in the last REA auction and saw Brothers penciled in I thought it could not be Dan Brothers. I looked it up and Dan Brothers retired from Baseball in 1896. ...But! He came back to pick up a pinch hit at bat during the Tuesday October 4th game for the 1904 NY Giants as they played the St. Louis Cardinals. This was a scorecard from that game! Iron Man McGinnity took the loss finishing the season 35-8. The giants committed 6 errors in the field leading to a 7-3 loss.
