Default 1939 Play Ball #113 Al Schacht

This one always makes me smile. One of the few men to have earned the "Clown Prince of Baseball" moniker.

Two things make me smile: 1) LOL at someone getting Ty Cobb in this pose, and 2) where did the corner go?

Desiderata

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

Two oddballs that last I knew were in the hands of board members. An e127 Sam Rice with the most stunning ghost image on the reverse which was in the hands of Val Kehl and a T205 "blue" border which Leon had last I knew.

I love strange, and those were two of the strangest to pass through my hands.

I've posted this non sport card before but this definitely brings a smile to my face when I read the inscription on the back.

My father sent this to me when I was stationed overseas in Spain in 1986. Reminds of him..

Scott, the Sam Rice card you are referring to is actually an E126:

This card makes me smile every time I see it because it reminds me of what Dimitri Young once said. They asked Dimitri, who never looked comfortable tracking the high foul popups that only the 1B can reach, after a particularly awkward effort what he thinks about while he is under the ball. He said: I just keep asking myself where the circus music is coming from?"
