Thanks Jeff! That Ullman Matty in your Flickr is really growing on me. Hadn’t really noticed that set until digging through the Stardard Catalog a couple months ago. Very cool set!
It sounds like I have a long list of suitors, if I ever decide to trade the Rose Lajoie or Chance! Take care, Bob |

I had to give it a little bit of thought as ive had some really good/fun pick ups this year. I think these three are probably my top 3 pick ups of the year.
Honrable mentions go to the 1954 Topps Hank Aaron PSA 1 and T206 Shag Shaughnessy Old Mill SGC 4

Very funny Jeff. That will not happen unless
1. I can get the Felix Mendelssohn Jackson from you 2. I can get the 1915 Real Photo Post card Babe Ruth (above post) from Ryan 3. Figure out how to re-allocate my collection to create the resources for the above allocation 4. Last need to figure out how to lower the bar ![]()

2024 has been a disappointment in that I have not been able to add a card to my Sam Rice collection. These would be my 3 best pickups for 2024:
- 1889 N173 cabinet of Sam Wise, showing him with Washington. - 1889 N173 cabinet of Pete Sweeney, Washington. I have a N172 card of Sweeney with this pose. - 1921 White's Tip Top Bread card of Ben Egan, who was a coach for the 1924 Senators team.

Also 1917 Merchants Bakery & Weil Baking cards of WaJo. Also E222 cards of Lipe, Revelle & Ryan. Last edited by ValKehl; 01-02-2025 at 08:10 PM. |

Besides my standard hoarding and picking up occasional stars and variations if the prices work, I basically got shut out this year when it comes to epic pick-ups.
However (that's a big however), I was able to secure a terrifyingly tough career-contemporary Mickey Mantle card, the 1967 Laughlin World Series #61 'With Address' version. Since there were seemingly (at most) only 300 of these cards ever issued (and Lord knows how many are still in existence), it is a truly substantial card that rarely sees the light of day (unlike the later reprints/further prints without the address on back). I was so thrilled, in fact, that I even made a strange (but hopefully entertaining) video about the card and the set for my YouTube channel. ![]() cardboardlandMantle1967LaughlinPROMO.jpg

Some really amazing cards in this thread. Nothing that special from me, but here are my two favorite type cards of the year and my one add to a set I am collecting.

My favorite 3 as I've moved into the M101-4 set and hope to stay for a while.
