7 Indians in 1949 will be really hard to beat.

Another 4 batch, 1939 Play Ball - Ruffing, DiMaggio, Dickey, Gomez on the Yankees, in a fairly small set.

If I may be forgiven for a 3 reference, 1948 Bowman has a fairly young Schoendienst, Musial and Slaughter as 3 of the 4 Cardinals (the other being Marty Marion who received a significant number of HOF votes for many years) in the small 48 card set. What a great grouping of players for such a small multi-team set. Got to be up there for per-card-talent-in-a-team-in-1-set.

Doesn't work card wise but 31 Yankees with NINE hofers -- Ruth, Gehrig, Dickey, Combs, Lazzeri, Sewell, Ruffing, Pennock, Gomez

It's funny this post came up...the other night I was looking through my 1985 Fleer set (yes, bored, lol) and as you know they list their players by team, and then how the team finished. The 2nd to the worst team in 1984 was the Brewers, cards # 576-601. I couldn't help but notice how many HOFers were on this team! It really stood out, 5 -

Rollie Fingers
Paul Molitor
Ted Simmons
Don Sutton
Robin Yount

5 tired old timers at the end of their career all on the same team. That would have been a fun dug out! Well, I guess Molitor and Yount weren't too old...

Its strange to me the number of teams with multiple HOFers for years that really did nothing as far as championships in the 60's and 70's - Giants, Cubs, Twins, Red Sox for example. Yet teams like the Dodgers with only one marginal HOFer (Sutton) were consistently in the hunt and in the WS, winning it all in 1981.
