Default What's up with eBay?

I thought eBay was messed up but now they have taken it to a whole other level.

Past auction links are now gone. When you click on them they now give you what they consider to be the same card available to bid on. You can no longer see the sold auction.

It started off with a blue frame and there was a link to see the original auction.

Now all gone...

This is not good for anyone and I do not understand what eBay is doing this at all.

There is still an option to view original auction, no? I did it as recently as yesterday.

Good lord I use that function all the time, great. Is it to save server space? What's the point?

Does the "Advanced" search still allow you to search by sold items?

I can find a listing of completed items, but cannot open any, it brings up a related current auction.

Glad I don't update my apps often. Mine still shows everything, all good.

I believe it was intentional and completely understand why. This gives them the opportunity to get an additional sales opportunity in front of a perspective buyer as opposed to a sale opportunity that already happened. They already collected their fee for the sold listing so it serves no benefit to them anymore. Presenting an active listing instead sure gives them an opportunity to make more money in fees this way. I’m shocked that nobody else has figured this out yet.

I've noticed this for a couple of months now or so. However, to make it even flakier, on some of the items it redirects you to have the ability to see the original listing, and on some items it does not.

I've not determined a consistent parameter (timing, category, etc.) where it is available sometimes and where it is not available.

The issue has been resolved. As I predicted, someone just messed up their code and they later fixed it. It was definitely not working earlier though. But it is now working again as expected. Alas, order has been restored in the hobby.

But it can hurt them.
I look up stuff to see what the last few sold for. I'm sure many people do.

If that info isn't available how many things get listed for low BINs reducing their fees from lower sales prices.

Some go straight to the finished listing and I can see them ,
Some go to a current listing without the option to see what I want to see
(I’m watching PSA8 75 Bretts and they Think I want to see a PSA2 )

Same here. PC/Firefox.

One thing I've noticed about Ebay weird stuff is it tends to roll out to different users at different times and sometimes things go back to normal for everyone.

I don't know if it's their way of testing a feature and how effective it is or some kind of unintended error.

99 times out of 100 when I want to see a closed listing I want info on that specific option, not to see where other options are. I want to see the closing price, the condition of the card that sold for that price, etc.
