Another recent acquisition. Never saw this before. The only commemorative Keezers I had seen are either Red Sox or Boston Braves related, which makes sense. This one doesn’t.

That thing really pops! Great pickup. You and bocca consistently take really good pictures (which is why you should be in charge of “the book” ). I’m selling a couple of non-baseball items on ebay and finally realized my outdated iphone takes better pictures than my little Canon digital camera. I’ve posted a lot of pictures here where the Canon didn’t accurately capture the color. Orange is particularly bad and, well, you know….

Speaking of orange and Keezer, bocca’s oddball Keezer Giants is probably at the top of my most wanted list. I’m insanely jealous.

Nice Pirates, Greg. This keezer, as with the minis I just found, just all seem to look well made. Seems like they hold up well over time and are never really in tatters. About the Giants... there has to be another one out there, Rob.

When I quit Corporate America (or it quits me), I'm going to become a full time picker/storage unit buyer. I love the hunt almost as much as the find.

My father in law passed away about three weeks ago. He had three storage units. 100% crap....unless there's a '52 Mantle buried in there. I'll make you a good deal.

Looks great. But I noticed the seller has a feedback of 1. I would have been nervous buying a $5K listing.

I'd love to spend my days exploring flea markets, garage sales and storage units. Unfortunately I'm in the wrong country. I hope one day I can get a rmont long hoad trip with my wife. I don't know what she'll think about taking the trip a big cargo van.

This cool 3d pennant sold on ebay this week (not to me). It's pretty funny that you can lift up the kilt.

Wait--refresh my memory: what Boston Braves pennant was that?

Maybe “commemorative” isn’t the best word. I meant a pennant that is beyond generic, identifying a season or a championship. Keezer did WS pennants for the Red Sox in 1946 and 1967 and the Braves in 1948. And they have roster pennants for both teams, circa 1949-50 like this one.

Another acquisition. Full-size. Is there an older known ASG pennant? I have seen two different for 1947 but besides this, none earlier.

That's a great pickup. 1941 is the earliest ASG pennant that I'm aware of.

In addition to the one you've found, I've catalogued this mini pennant from 1941. There's also these other 2 that I have listed as 1940s (but no specific date).

Good info, Gary. That mini is clearly from the same company (I think WGN). The two bigger ones you posted appear to be “Epstein”.

Having parted ways with this some 20+ years ago - now residing with Mark - it was thrilling to finally find another.

Congratulations. I would love to know why it was just sitting in a storage locker. I would guess the owner didn’t know its value.

How many people would? About one in a hundred, I'd guess, or maybe one in a thousand.

The owner had to have realized it was worth something.... He went to some expense to at least frame it.

Which, depending on how long it sat in that locker, may have adequately preserved it over the past 90+ years.

You never know what you'll get from ebay...

Origami or some poor soul who didn't know about the "irregular size" surcharge. I used to mail pennants flat for $3.50, all day long, "back in the day."

Did the seller send the pennant in an oversized package but decided to fold the pennant anyhow? That's insane.

Really pleased to add this new arrival. It looks like it's gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson but it's still a 1938 Grommet pennant. And to top it all, it still has all it's tassels.

It was hidden away in a bulk lot of pennants that I suspect most buyers overlooked in the listing photos.

I'll be posting some of these for sale in BST if you're interested.

Three new pennant variations. The new ones are in the top of each picture.

Red ones: Slightly different forward F and the GIANTS is a different size.

Black ones: New one has a different size GIANTS vs. the one below it. Both have a different F vs. the bottom one. That one has yet another size GIANTS.

Burgundy ones: Forward F vs.backwards F and GIANTS is a different size.

I texted Bocca and told him I had picked these up cheap. He said "You and your ‘F’ variations." To which I told him "You and your spine color variations."

I agree. Some nice pennants mixed in with some junk. A small auction company that had a few lots of mixed pennants. My guess is that it was part of a house clearance. I held off on the others because I wanted to use my money to get the lot with the grommet pennant.

Of course this lot includes a 1950 Yankees AL Champions pennant even though I'd recently picked one up.

Your new Giants pennants look to be in fantastic condition.

Do you dare try a LIGHT cleaning on the grommet pennant? Not sure it would do a lot but it’s gotta be dirty.

Now why did you go and put a thought like that in my head, Rob?

I think I'll resist the temptation to clean it. I think it might do more harm than good.

Speaking of grommet pennants, did anyone see this one that closed 2 weeks ago?

Imagine what it would have gone for if it had actual grommets.

I think I'll resist the temptation to clean it. I think it might do more harm than good.

Here it is with grommets. Will consign this at some point, maybe B/S/T (prefer T) no more display room for it!

1. I have seen a 1915 Phillies version. So the design of the champions pennants do span at least 20 years. They all look very much alike, which would be unlikely if they were making them each year as opposed to a one-time production honoring past champs.

2. There are at least three color variations of the 1920 Dodgers. That’s just unusual for pennants of that period. By the late 1930s companies were making same style/different colors. Browns grommet pennants of this style from the late 1930s and early 40s come in 5 or 6 different colors.

3. The 1915 Phillies is a more “modern sized” pennant, 28-29” long, and not oversized as many/most of the teens pennants were.

None of these points suggest anything certain and I’m probably about 80% confident that these were commemorative pennants made for some event. Maybe the opening of the HOF or the 1939 centennial. That’s just an educated guess.

I have seen, in this style (grommets, design, etc.)

1915 Phillies
1918 Red Sox
1919 White Sox
1920 Dodgers
1920 Indians
1933 Senators
1936 Yankees
1936 Giants

Additionally there are Cardinals (non-champs) dated 1937, 38, 39 and a 1939 Browns, all from this grommet pennant company.
Does anyone have a photo of the 1920 Indians or the 1933 Senators grommet pennants?

I didn't "like' this pennant at all. It sold for $374.

a) how do we even know it's baseball related?

b) the Giants weren't using a black and orange color scheme in 1932.

c) the NY is Yankees, not Giants.

Am I wrong?

This one was discussed long ago (perhaps even before you joined net54). Consensus was that it is very likely NOT baseball related. Your instincts are spot-on.

I did like this pennant but the tassels seem a little weird. The spacing from top and bottom seems way off and the top tassels look thick and the bottom tassels thin. Maybe there's three at the top and one missing at the bottom? It brought good money. I wouldn't be surprised if one of you guys got it.

Wasn’t me, but this was a good get. The colors are vivid and it’s almost flawless. Hard to find without cracking in the shield. Might be the most attractive vintage ASG pennant. Not unusual for this company to be a little sloppy with tassel placement. I’ve seen it on others.

How could that be? I started the pennant thread. You mean you guys discussed pennants before I came along?

YES! There WAS a very substantial pennant thread before you came along. Perhaps someone can find it (who's better than me at the search function). I think of it periodically and would actually love to see it.

But when yours/this one came along, it rendered the other one irrelevant (as referenced by the utterly insane # of views )

Also just FYI, the irregular tassel placement is very typical for that '51 ASG Pennant. I've seen others just like that many times. 100% legit.
