Hartland made the lamp both ways. You’d think the circular base version would be worth more, as it is rarer. But the rectangular base version is considered the more desirable and typically sells for more money.

Also… the rectangular base version was made with the lamp shade seen above, as well as a plain shade (same size, but without the felt bat/ball cut-outs. I personally prefer the plain shade, as it looks less “childish”.

Those are super cool, IMO. I’m glad I’m not a Mantle or Hartland collector….I’d have to have one!

Thanks Mark. Anyone have a photo of the round base version?

Nice, Mike! Now the picture in the ad looks like a possible third variation of the base.

It appears in the ad that the figure is an actual Mantle Hartland glued to the base. Every lamp I have seen is the gold figure version. Does anyone have one with the regular figure?

That's what it looked like to me. The image in the add isn't great but it does look like it has multiple colors.

And it also says it has a weighed metal base. I have never seen one of those.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that one doesn’t exist. Maybe they rushed out some ad copy and then changed their minds. Isn’t it “Fred” who ought to know?

Agree on both counts...

1. I do not think that version (with metal base and multi-colored Mantle) ever made it to market.

2. Fred is the guy who'll know for sure. Hopefully he will eventually chime in.
