Default Rare Rube Waddell Items

Anyone have something rare featuring Rube? He’s my favorite player. I have almost all of his cards, postcards, and photos posted on my @waddellrube Instagram bit would like to see anything you have.

You will find several Rube images here. Just go to the Players drop down list.

Have the book, but I hadn't seen your website--its an awesome resource!

Joe, best of luck in your search. Waddell was an amazing and interesting player/person.

Thanks. Jim. I had a chance to buy that 1903 Rollins College pic but stupidly passed on it. BYW, I absolutely love your book.

Default C. 1908 Catchers and Pitchers of the St Louis Browns - Trade Card

Waddell is sitting next to Harry Howell with the dog. Tubby Spencer is there along with other catchers and pitchers, including Barney Pelty in the top row.

My contribution to the thread. I believe it to be the only one known(it is the one on Old Cardboard, not sure what happened to the upper right corner from the original image to when I acquired it in 2011??).

Scott, are there any other W600 players with green mounts, or is Waddell the only one? Any explanation for why the unusual mount was issued at all? Thanks.

This is an ad for History of Base Ball, Vol. 1 (1845-1871) by Seymour Church (sometimes referred to as "the Church book"). As far as I can tell (from some online research) it was an inset to another of Church's books Analyses of Pig Iron or maybe an actual page in the book (although what I have is thicker stock than a book page and does not appear to have been taken from a bound book).

Yes, there are four different players known with the dark green mount, Fred Clarke, Lajoie, Waddell and Wallace. All are from the first issued year of 1902, perhaps the earlier issued ones came with this mount before changing to the usually seen one as we know them.

Thanks Scott.

In response to Michael (molenick), there is a premium by S.R. Church featuring exactly the same colorized picture of Waddell. It's stunning and rare. I used to own one but sadly traded it away. In the premium, the text on the right and left edges is missing, as is the "present" language at the top.

I assume the premium is the picture offered at the bottom for 5 cents.

Default Canceled Philadelphia PA Oct 19 1905

Philadelphia A's Lost the 1905 World series 4-1 with game 5 played on October 14th. 5 days later this card was mailed. One of the few Philadelphia A's team photos I have seen without Connie Mack. Wadell Topd row center.

Where’s Prizner when you need him! That SR Church “Premium” from the book is the best.

Here’s my contribution, although I could clearly use a photograph upgrade! Might need to work on that this upcoming weekend!!

Great items of one of my favorite players to collect. Scott love the W600 green mount type 1!

I've been interested in George Edward " Rube" since I was a kid and read a book about baseball's zaniest characters. What amused me as a preteen seems tragic as an adult understanding the mental challenges Waddell must have face despite his physical gifts

Happy to share some cards, postcards, and photos

I like that the artists for the T3 and T206 cards adjusted Rube's gaze so he didn't look as 'distracted' as he does in the photo.

Great Waddell items everyone!

Default Rube Waddell Items

Hey Joe,
I’m sure you’ve seen most of these and I know you’re on of the 3 who own the notebook cover since we’ve found out that only 3 were ever printed of each player. But here are some cool items that I’ve been able to acquire over the years of Waddell.

Wonder if a snapshot of Rube exists. Would be the chase of a lifetime for me.

Thanks for sharing those, guys. Awesome stuff. I didn't really realize that he is as widely collected as he is.

I was able to upgrade my 1905 Wanamaker Silk showing the Athletics and Waddell. I posted my other one previously in this thread, but it was damaged and severely faded. This is much better quality and even better it’s signed by 4 of the men shown: Connie Mack, Chief Bender, Danny Murphy, and Harry Davis!!
