LOL! Very true.
When you opened a pack of Topps (or Donruss, etc.) cards, you had what they chose to put as the player's picture.
I had the luxury of choosing the picture that I wanted.
There were pictures over the years from magazines that I liked very much and I now was able to have them on cards.
Sports Illustrated and SPORT magazines had some really awesome full page color pictures of Koufax that I was able to have reproduced onto the cards.

I used to make customs, using Photoshop. I would find photos of cuppa coffee guys who didn't have a proper card made. Then mailed to the player for an autograph.
