Dan, between you and Ken Marks, I sure hope you offer us a completed book, or long chapter-length article on the intriguing 1962 JELL-O baseball set. If you think it's worthwhile to include, by all means, use my personal anecdote from my chapter on the set in my book, NEVER CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. Regardless, thank you both with all my heart for your amazing contributions to the hobby on the General Foods baseball and football card issues. I will ALWAYS feel the 1962 and 1963 Post sets were "the most", as compared to Topps. --- Brian Powell |

when my mother passed away and we were preparing her house for sale I made one last sweep of the attic looking for some of my lost cards and here is what I found between the floorboards.

To Lucky Larry -- Do you recall cutting out the baseball card photos? Only one 1967 Topps?

To all of my Post and JELL-O buddies -- Thank you for the kind remarks and, most importantly, your hobby friendship.
It is remarkable to reflect upon my re-energized (adult?) hobby journey that began in 1978. Do you ever wonder what would have happened if certain people or circumstances had not crossed your path? To this day, I think about that chance encounter at a weekend Buena Park baseball card show in 1985 that birthed the notion of sharing my Post baseball card research. I mean, who would have thought there were other obsessive, compulsive and somewhat deranged guys that would warmly receive and generously contribute to the 1961-63 Post/JELL-O body of knowledge? Now that I am once again reasonably physically stable, I will be looking for a local print shop to reproduce the U.S. 1961P, Canadian 1962P, and U.S. 1963P books at a fair price. Regarding my physical state, all I can say is that on Sunday I was the liturgist and managed to serve communion without my legs giving way and my body crashing into the altar. That's a good sign, RIGHT?! Blessings to you and yours -- and I'll "keep you posted" on the book reprints. |

More importantly, though, I thank the Lord God for helping you recover from your health problems and enabled you to be the liturgist and serve Holy communion at your church, keeping your legs steady and strong. ![]() Last edited by brian1961; 05-08-2024 at 01:16 PM. |

Although I can't add any interesting stories of collecting these sets, I can say that I remember vividly the early 60's and eating cereal for breakfast every day. We would read the backs of the boxes while slurping up the cereal no matter what was printed or advertised on the back. When the miracle occurred and the boxes contained BASEBALL CARDS, we pored over the comments and statistics on the cards and quickly began eating 2 bowls of cereal every morning so we could finish that box and get the dull scissors out and mutilate those cards!!! We never saw the Jello boxes, but absolutely loved getting the cards from the cereal boxes. Those cards will always have a special place in my collection.
