Prewar T205 (I won't post my Cobb after seeing Leon's).
Postwar, 1954 Topps.

This is another vote for the 48/49 Leaf set. Baseball cards as pop art! I even like the poor registration.

53-56 Topps are also very good, but Leaf is my favorite.

Pre-war. There are so many, hard to choose just one, or two, but...

1A - T206
2A - T205 - Really tough to beat a nice looking T205. Just look at Leon's T205 Cobb and that says all you need to know. Someday I'll have one.

Post-war, '53 Topps

One set? I collect everything from baseball to pin-ups, so one set...

If I had to pick a favorite baseball set it would be 1954 Topps. I've built, sold and rebuilt it 3x already.

Basketball is the 1969 Topps set. Loved it since I was a kid. Built it 2x:

Boxing is actually easy for me: H815 Adam Hats premiums

Entertainment, 1976 Topps Star Trek

Football, 1968 Topps. Again, a childhood favorite of mine:

Hockey is 1975 Topps. First set I really built from packs in hockey:

Motorsports, gotta go with the 1976 NASCAR postcard set from STP and Racing Pictorial. Just great looking cards.

Nonsports, I am fond of a series of steamship postcards made in Japan in the interwar period.

Pin-ups, I like a rare set of Cuban tobacco cards from Trinidad y Hnos

Soccer, 1968 Crack from Argentina.

Pre-War would be T206. Because I don't feel the need to be "different."
Runner-up: T3. See above.

Post-War is Topps 1961, which was the very first set I collected at the tender age of six. I know it's not highly thought of, but I do reserve the right to be "different" when I want to be.
Runner-up: 1964 Topps. Just Because.

Overall favorite set - M114 Baseball Magazine Premiums. Because it's a challenging set, unique in many ways, impossible to complete, nearly impossible to catalogue or checklist, and because I unaccountably found myself an expert on the set.

And if you don't believe me, go ask Doug Goodman!

The N142 Honest tobacco cabinets. Only 4 ballplayers, but each one a work of art.
